Jim is the CEO of Medical Billing Center, an outpatient therapy-specific billing and collections company founded by physical therapists in 2001.

Jim is the Chief Executive Officer of Medical Billing CenterTM (MBC), an Outpatient therapy-specific billing and collections company founded by physical therapists in 2001.

Jim has over 25 years of management and leadership experience in the healthcare industry serving as the Managing Partner and SVP of Clemson Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, a multi-state Private Practice and South Carolina VP of Operations for ATI Physical Therapy. Jim and his partners grew their practice from 3 to 30 clinics culminating in the successful acquisition by ATI Physical Therapy in 2016. His experience includes financial reporting, revenue cycle/billing and collection management, billing education, compliance program reporting, payer relations, budget development, strategic planning and leadership and team development.

Jim is a current member of PPS and PPS Government Affairs Committee while previously serving as the SC-APTA President, VP, Legislative Chair, and Reimbursement Chair. He is also a Founding Board Member of The Clemson Free Clinic and Co-Founder and Board Member of PlaySafe, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that employs and provides Certified Athletic Trainers to secondary schools. He has also lectured nationally providing Physical Therapy Clinical Education for 10 years.

Jim holds a DPT from The University of Montana, a MA and BA in Exercise Science from Furman University and a BS in Physical Therapy from the Medical University of South Carolina. Jim resides in Easley, SC with his wife Eleanor, 2 children and 3 dogs.

Nicole is the Chief Integration Officer of Therapy Partner Solutions Holdings (TPSH), a family of therapy centric companies providing solutions across the full continuum of care settings. Medical Billing Center is one of the organizations within the TPSH family of companies.

Nicole has 27 years of clinical and operational experience and more than 20 years spent in operations and administrative roles across a broad range of healthcare settings. She most recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Medical Billing CenterTM (MBC), a billing and collections company owned by TPSH. Nicole has led operations for large clinics and multi-site regions, and driven teams managing back-end processes including billing, revenue cycle oversight, quality, education, credentialing, leadership development implementation and led the oversight of several managed service arrangements nationally, including joint venture relationships. These varied experiences lend to an innate understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing therapy facilities and private practices today.

Nicole has been an active member of the APTA since 2006 and serves on the Payer Policy Committee for South Carolina Physical Therapy Association (APTA-SC). She has been appointed to serve on the APTA Payment and Policy Committee for the Private Practice Section. Nicole received a BS in Physical Therapy from the University of New England in 1996 and obtained her DPT from Regis University in 2009. She is also Certified in Healthcare Compliance and a Certified Athletic Trainer.

VP of Operations

Harriett Summer is VP of Operations at Medical Billing Center. Harriett oversees the daily operations of MBC. Harriett has been in the accounting and medical field for 30+ years in a variety of medical practices.

The last 15 years she has been with Medical Billing Center. She finds it extremely gratifying helping physical therapy practices grow their businesses, so they can focus on healing their patients. Harriett is an expert in therapy practice management systems and insures that all client’s systems are optimized for performance. When she is not at her computer working on the latest client request from a practice owner, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren, hiking, walking on a beach and enjoying life.
Brandy

Brandy Watson

Vice President of Finance and Client Services

Brandy Watson is the MBC Vice President of Finance and Client Services. Brandy oversees insurance and patient payments, processes and support staff.

She serves as the key contact for clients during the initial set up and provides ongoing support. She is responsible for the ongoing management of information security policies and procedures and technical systems to maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of MBC’s information systems. Brandy has been with MBC for 10 years. Prior to joining MBC, she was Partner and Chief Marketing Officer at a Real Estate Investment firm that specialized in locating and underwriting institutional-grade commercial real estate assets nationwide. In addition, Brandy has worked in multiple clinical settings from front desk, patient aide, to back office, insurance billing, verification and authorization specialist. Brandy is driven to provide clients with the expertise and support to allow clinic owners and staff the ability to focus on treating their patients and building their practice, knowing that MBC is managing their billing and collections to the highest standard.
